NEWS
CEO interview

Almacube interviewed Giacomo Russo, co-founder and CEO of Magnetic Future, at the Great-ER Demo Day.
Thanks to the support received during the Great-ER advanced incubation program, Magnetic Future is already preparing the technology for advanced industrial and scientific applications.
Great-ER is created by Almacube and the universities of the Emilia-Romagna Region: University of Bologna, University of Ferrara, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and University of Parma.
Workshop on Energy Storage

Magnetic Future sponsors the Workshop “Frontiers of Energy Storage" held at the University of Rome Sapienza on 5-6 November 2025 with more than 100 attendees.
New research published

Ever wondered how much power it takes to keep fusion magnets running at tens of kiloamperes?
We are excited to share our latest research “On the Advantages of Using Superconducting Contactless Power Supplies for DC Superconducting Coils in Nuclear Fusion Devices” presented at IEEE EEEIC/I&CPS Europe 2025 in Crete, Greece.
Magnetic Future incorporated!

Magnetic Future was officially incorporated as an "innovativative start-up company" in compliance with the Italian laws.
The six co-founders smile for a picture immediately after the signs.
MIT on fusion energy

Very interesting opinion on the race for fusion energy has been published in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Technology Review.
The lack of essential supply chains and process technologies necessary to commercialize fusion energy could doom the US and European countries in capturing the critical geopolitical prize.
What are the essential technologies? (Spoiler: superconductors and power electronics are in the short list).
Vision of a big fusion player

In this Corriere della Sera article outlining Eni's (and Commonwealth Fusion Systems') vision and plans for nuclear fusion, one passage stands out:
"The winner of the challenge is the one who can trigger, continue, and maintain the fusion reaction inside the machine using ever less energy to generate the magnetic field."
If the goal is to reduce energy, working on superconductors, which have negligible losses anyway, is marginal.
On the other hand, there could be orders of magnitude gains in power supplies and current leads. This is precisely Magnetic Future's approach.
Visit to PSI colleaugues

On 8 April 2024, Magnetic Future founders wer invited for a talk in Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland
PSI hosts the SULTAN facility for testing high-current superconductors for the next generation of fusion magnets.
Celebrating new collaborations
